Note this will be a champion day as a barista. Something feels right about making coffee. And it is even more awesome to taste it.

Zara Boycott, Copyright Act and the Blogger Echo Chamber

I am back to share with you some links that I found both interesting and important. Unfortunately I couldn't go into detail about them. I started a new job which equals less blogging time until I am in San Fran. Oh boy!!!

Yes Please: Yoox Vintage

So a few days ago I was window shopping over at Yoox.com and to my surprise they have a vintage section. A fashion forward buddy would come in handy as we would bust out laughing at the idea that Yoox had a vintage shop. Then we would go silent as we looked through all the cute, glamourus,
awe-inspiring pieces.

1. Saint Germain Dress: A big fan of the print on the fabric. It is a very top heavy two piece and I'm a very top heavy girl. I am a fan of this dress because it reminds me of one I used to have.

2-4 UGO CORREANI jewelry: I had never heard of this designer and what a shame! The thorny necklace makes me uncomfortable but I like that a piece of jewelry can do that without being overtly offensive.

5. Zandra Rhodes dress: Another designer I will have to research. I like the length and its misshapen body. I like long dresses that drape the body: new favorite thing!

6.Monet necklace: Since my father started a jewelry branch of his antique buyer business I have been in love with pieces by Monet. This piece is very fluid and i like the "latex" chain mixed with the gold chain.

DEREK in UMAG

Dress to impress.

He has David Bowie's features. And I know how my readers love some Bowie. It is very important you check out UMAG once a month. They have a great platform I have grown to love in recent years.

You Go Girl:Julia Sarr Jamois

With an amazing career as a model and fashion editor I have a lot of respect for Julia Sarr Jamois. She always dons the nicest business attire since Vogue in the 70s. Her afro makes me the most jealous.

Awe-inspiring is how I would describe her style. Although this is from an editorial she carries herself in much of the same way. She did great work as the fashion editor of Wonderland Magazine.

What do you think of her style? Is she one of those fashion editors that has slipped through the cracks? All photos are from the Fashion Spot.

This is a very nice dress.

And I want it in my closet.
It is awfully star like, lady like. I am pretty sure I could dress it up or down. This dress is a new item on my mind when I go thrifting. Since school is over I guess I will let my brain relax on thoughts about shoes, sparkly dresses, San Francisco, and not giving a f&*k. I suggest my fellow students do the same. I am backed up on things a bit. Bare with me as I cover all the things I want because I will have oodles of fun and make endless run on sentences. But seriously folks.....

You may pre-order the dress here.

Mixtape Monday: F-U-N Times

pic from Satorialist

It is nearly summer and if the weather would cooperate then I good break out my new shoes already. These songs are getting me prepared for sunning on the balcony, picnic lunches, and trips to the beach.
So, I decided to start using 8 tracks. Tell me what you think.

Jason Poissin in Think Contra

This is a "fresh off the presses" kind of editorial it was shot for Think Contra. They have a great blog to supplement their online magazine. I am very intrigued by online magazines because they don't have any rules yet and are really in the beta stages. I still love the real think but Contra is only online. Their presentation is well done. Jason Poissin isn't a favorite model but he is great in this editorial. This is a rather humorous feature, see dog next to a fifth of jack and cigarettes.

You know how I love skinny guys in headdresses.
Tumblr idea? Maybe.

Freja Beha anyone?

haha make that two fifths and a handle?

Still lagging but there is always music!

This is Future Islands. While they are originally from NC they have embraced Baltimore, where I currently reside. Talent is an understatement. They are just doing their thing and doing it well. Sam, the lead singer, has a weird voice and that is what most people tell me. Before my influence from others I thought his voice was kind of sexy. But what do I know?

Their newest album was put out on Thrill Jockey (Congrats boys!). And I got to listen to it a little early. Needless to say I really love what they do with music. I say this because they are considered a New Wave band and who isn't sick and tired of that. They are definitely agressive and I like that too. I also like that they don't wear skinny jeans and have 5 o'clock shadows.

I try to keep name dropping to a minimum on this blog. It takes away from the whole process of creating content for this blog. But since I am in a fashion lull I want to talk more about music! Hopefully this will give me a kick in the pants. Sam, however, has some impressive style. He always wears slacks and a dress shirt. On top of that people seem captivated by his facial expressions. More on his style and swagger at a later date.

Mixtape Monday: Total Throwback

So I was feelin' "grimey", well it is reflected in the mixtape....you'll know what I mean when you listen. I was listening to a similar playlist in middle school. And the fact that these songs will date me one day is crazy! I will tell my children about Big Pun and Busta Rhymes like my mom told me about Nina Simone and Lena Horne (RIP). I bought a ton of clothes for my wardrobe and for the etsy. Pictures soon!

How do you feel about these mixtapes friends?

You Go Girl: A model, a consultant. A designer, an Italian.

SLU EDITION

Style Like U (SLU) is a great resource. You can watch the weird things happen. These people open their closets and hearts to the videographer. And sometimes it might seems laughable to others I think it is a beautiful thing. They are comfortable in themselves to say what they feel. The videos are a great format to showcase clothing. Because the wearers are able to pull from their closet and you almost get to see the process in which they dress.

Major morning inspiration

05 May 2010

This used to be....

This used to be how my room looked. This is what my hair used to look like.
This past weekend I cleaned and studied and was totally proud of myself. I was thinking of something to post today and thought why not post how I have improved in the past few months. I went from feeling pretty shitty to feeling like 1000 bucks. I am pessimistic, don't expect me to feel like a million bucks. I never posted these photos and I must have just forgot about them. Shame on me.

How else have things gotten better? I am headed to San Fran in June to chill with friends and celebrate the Captain's birthday.  I am heading to NY in July to see my besties and go to Siren Festival. When I think about my plans I get all happy inside. When I think about how I have narrowly escaped lots uncomfortable and compromising life situations in the past few months I thank my friends. So thank you friends from Enid to G and Chris and Jared and everyone in between!
Have a good Wednesday!!!

Yes_Please: Summer shoes

Realistically: I couldn't even walk in these but seeing as I would work three jobs to get them they belong on this list. The satin bows are my favorite detail! No surprise but these shoes are Prada and were taken by Jak and Jil photog Tommy Ton.

Isabela Mastache Martinez makes these shoes. I like the skeleton toes better than the Rei Kawakubo red numbers that Tavi of Style Rookie has in her closet. They are more lethal looking.Martinez has some other great designs which I post in the coming month!

These Lanvin macrame and leather sandals are fantastic. There is chain and beads and yarn all in one! You can purchase them at Luisaviaroma if you have 700 bones to drop. Maybe someone will come along with a DIY version.

Opening Ceremony is on a roll these past two seasons with their shoe collections. I like the mix of blue and grey dots amongst espadrille wedge. It is for sale right now!

Mixtape Monday: Tha Groove

So here is another diverse playlist. I just felt like dancing this morning so here you go! Let me know if you move are booty to this one. I am trying to hone my mixtape skills. It is another short one because the Fela Kuti song is 12 minutes. Don't worry it is worth the full 12 minutes.

I have been bored lately/ I have been busy lately

It spells ARTISTS...backwards. This was taken at Baltimore's Transmodern Festival.
Performance art is in the paper. I am the goofy one with an I on my chest. Performing with Theresa Columbus is the only thing that can take me away from other responsibilities. I am always guaranteed to have fun. This is proof that I have gotten out into the world of the living but I only have two weeks left in the semester. Booyah!
