Egmatic baby: Tiiu Kuik + McGinley

These images are so striking I couldn't hold on to them in my hard drive forever. The women in the middle is apart of a Ryan McGinley series that is pretty cool. I'm listening to Owen Pallet, he's pretty cool too.

Dress her up a little, okay?

I love dressing up, it is the beez-neez. Just ask the girls of Di$count blog. They are blowing stuff up in the blogging world. Picture number one is the before, a broken leopard print umbrella. Picture two is its new form, a vest. I made it as it was getting cold and can't wait to wear it when it gets warm. I like wearing it around the house. The last picture is of how I layer accessories. Ever since the crazy girl on StylelikU with her arm full of watches I have been obsessed with layering accessories.

I am opening up the editorial flood gates and hoping that if you have any questions about me or the blog or maybe you would like to see something new. Let me know. I am also open to reviewing clothing, magazines, and books as well as collaborating with other bloggers. EMAIL ME. Get at me!

Dada, Dada, Dada. Aha!

Erwin Blumenfeld: I Was Nothing But a Berliner: Dada Montages 1916-1933

I loved Dada as a child! I mean, it is obvious why. Each character of he Dada movement was cooky and had "kooky" things to say. At the time I didn't get that part, I saw the theatrics and intense working with hands to produce a message. As for me, I still don't understand their whole message. Out of Dada I see working organisms creating other organic images, words, pieces. As I entered college and took a course on Art from the 1860s til 1970 it was shocking to see how my opinion changed. Even still, I am inspired by Dada and fascinated by how much it has influenced modern cultures and ways of thinking. In close readers, if Dada has taught us anything....I am not really sure what it is.

let it be(gin)

Today is Kaiser Wilhelm's birthday.
I wore the coat that has an odd resemblence to the parka the little kid in A Christmas Story wore. It is the first day back for me. I'm both excited and nervous. This also a special post because this is.the first post I am doing on my new phone. I hope everyone is staying bundled, unless you are one of my friends from down under.

Ps. I am bundled and blogging, this is attracting some attention on the train. LOL

Lovely friends, I present Donna Harrison

video credited to Style Like U

If you are not up on Style Like U then you need to stop goofing around and get over there. Donna Harrison inspires me to be a good dresser but more importantly, a good person. I am also impressed with her love of her family. I don't know many people that talk about their parents as highly as she does. Her style matches her wisdom although the QVC is not my favorite I would imagine myself wearing an accessory like a neck or headscarf. I apologize: football, sickness, and other things have managed to give me a long but healthy break from the internet. But I am back and in full effect.

[Culture]Bonnie and Clyde[Culture]

I know you can guess the real thing from the fake....

disturbing newsreel footage

Trailer

The song

Bonnie and Clyde, Clyde and Bonnie. Talk about iconic couple, they were better than any rock couple I know but they were also a little touched. I can't believe this was a phenomenon one way or another. I am fascinated by crime but what they did was pretty insane. To top it off they were glorified in the press. What is your take? I know there have been plenty of fashion weeks I have seen B and C inspired looks traipsing down the runway.

I like seeing photographers photograph what they want. Editorials are great but when you get to see an artists own tastes it is fantastic. That is not to say the photographers taste or aesthetic can not be seen in his/her own work but in the case of Felix Werbowy it is quite obvious. Inadament objects and blurry scapes are why I enjoy Werbowy's work. He also has a blog! If I had photographing prowess I would want all of my photos to be this hallucinogenic and dreamy.

The Thermals and The Jealous Sound

They don't exist anymore but they always will in my mind. I have so many fond memories of kissing boys and staying up late, not mention the parties. Melancholy feelings always arise when I hear these two songs.

My programming today and tonight in no particular order.

catching up on google reader

catching up on 2010 menswear collections

Starting with season 1 episode 1 of madmen

Today marks the last week of free time until May. Yes, I start my weeks on Sunday now. Today will be the last day I will be able to mindlessly surf the internet. I got a cold two days ago and I still haven't shaken it. I am medicating myself with sleep and a special ginger brew. Monday I have to meet with an advisor about Belgium and return my way late over due books. I also have to study Latin as I missed the last week of learning. So much to do!!! All in all I am ready to begin the next semester. This also means I will not be around as much but I know you will understand. I will still be posting daily. How many times today was mentioned in this post: 4.

Yum Yumm

photos from Fashion Gone Rogue and The Cool Hunter

I love fastfood, which is why I will probably never reach a size 8. Who cares?! It is greasy and always manages to hit the spot. Now Cool hunter has upped the luxury factor by toying with the minds of consumers. Lily Cole also models with yummy proportions and colors.

Some Required archives

"I think those that love my blog would love watching people/strangers-Ally C.

I want to share with you a friend of mine. She runs Some Required and posts quite often. Ally has been doing this blogging thing since 2005, she is a seasoned inspirationalist. She is an awesome friend and always finds inspiring photos, she scours Flickr in her spare time. Ally has also managed to get me into photographers, I garnered my knowledge from her posts. She has a sixth sense about talented people. Above I have posted photos from very early posts. She posts everything from music videos, editorials, flickr favorites, and poetry.

Irregular shoes...MY FAVE!

I love a crazy shoe. It all started with my goth phase in middle school where I had two pair of platforms. High School was the 4 year flat period and then I returned at 19 to platforms and such. Now that you are caught up I want to talk about Irregular Choice. They have been making the craziest looking shoes for a long time. My favorite pair of irregular choice flats fell apart today. I had to retire them at my mothers house so there aren't any pictures. HOWEVER, I will be looking for a new pair so I am doing a post about them!

They are both comfortable and wacky. And I like it like that. The two pair posted above were the two I was the most enamored with. They are powerful for a high street brand. I haven't seen anything like them before or yet. The first pair is called Gaga. Simply put: I want them because they remind me of a haute couture lumber jack. Second we have What An Angel, I like to call them TANK because that is what they remind me of. Fully armored hoof similar to A. F. Vandevorst hoof shoes but at the street stomping level. I think I have decided on these because I need some more "fierce" shoes in my closet.

I managed to get in touch with Irregular Choice. I told them about my dear departed shoes and they sent me pictures of the stock in their store. They understood my shoe situation, i.e. my enormous feet and sent me photos of size 11 only. Aren't they great? My favorites are posted above. Purple is my favorite color although, I must admit, I do not always look good in it. These 50s inspired pinup shoes would provide a great balance to my serious wardrobe. The booties would be great for any day to just throw on. They also come in red but I favor this tanned leather color to work all year around. Lastly are these glammy heels in crazy irredescent purple and glitter. Nina, the lovely lady who sent me the photos, didn't know how I like my shoes and she managed to find some nice ones that I would be happy to put into my growing collection. All the high platforms and heels I own are in black. Too safe! I would love to get my hands on these crazy shoes. I would probably sleep in them and wear drapery white, black, or pink with them. This was fun! I would love to review more products soon.

Stark y Blanco, part two

1-4: Testshootgallery, 5: Febuary 2010 Vogue China cover

FREEBIE: CoutequeCoute has done an inspiring post today about the House of Organza's video preview. Go for it! I love the fluidity and movement in the video. I love Test Shoot Gallery! That isn't an exaggeration. I have pure love for their well laid out website and nicely done photographs. It is a website and a concept that started on facebook. I can't even imagine their work on Facebook's platform but I think you should check out their site. Boaring holes into skulls on the cover of Vogue China's February issue. I am into it!

Stark y Blanco, part one

I love basic colors, you could say it is one of my faves. Seeing a person execute a perfectly monochromatic or neutral outfit my heart flutters a little. I have started on the latter but not I am presenting all white in two parts, maybe three. White= purity, innocence, solidarity, openness, hope, cleanness. Well, sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't I like to see a stylist or photographer rework the common knowledge of a color, type of garment, and etc. I will be more prudent to add tags to the photos I post.
